China Montane Forest

This exhibit is designed to represent the conifer forests of the Qionglai-Minshan mountainous region that separates the Tibetan Plateau from the Sichuan Basin. This cool foggy realm supports dense coniferous forests, with deciduous trees providing a canopy through which the conifers can protrude, with ground cover of rhododendrons and bamboo.

This ecosystem provides the habitat for a remote and exotic collection of species, most notably the golden monkey and many rare pheasants. Many of these will be showcased alongside the amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates from that area.Golden monkey
