We encourage all of our guests to use public transport when coming to the Zoo. There are lots of different public transport options and there are also several offers and promotions for guests that use sustainable transport.

Located in the Clifton area of Bristol close to the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Zoo is easily accessible by bus, train, bicycle or car. With such easy access there's really no excuse not to visit! Click here for a Google Map showing the Zoo's location.
We’re open every day from 9am-5.30pm in peak season, and close at 5pm during off peak. The Zoo is closed on Christmas Day. Last entry to the Zoo is an hour before closing time and animal houses close half an hour before closing time.
Travelling by bus
A Zoo Safari ticket on any First bus in Bristol, gives you discounted bus travel and Zoo entry. This applies to adult and child tickets only. For more information on bus fares please call First Bus Bristol on 0845 606 4446. The 8 and 9 bus services run between Temple Meads Station, the city centre and the Zoo. Call Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 for more details on bus services in Bristol. City Sightseeing, run an open-top bus service which tours the city from February to 31 October 2014. They normally run every 90 minutes, which increases to every 30 minutes during school summer holidays and at weekends. You can get discounts for the Zoo on the bus.

There are two Park and Ride options to get to Bristol Zoo.
Portway Park and Ride: Service 901
Service 901 provides an easy Park and Ride service between Portway Park & Ride site, Shirehampton and Clifton, serving Bristol Zoo, Clifton Village and Clifton Down Station.

Long Ashton Park & Ride: Long Ashton - Bristol Zoo
The Wessex Bristol 505 Park and Ride service runs from Long Ashton Park and Ride seven days a week. Busses run from 06:05 until 17:05.

Travelling to us by bicycle?
If you’re planning to travel by bicycle, we have plenty of cycle racks available.
We have a new cycling initiative for both members and non-members.
On your bike!
As part of Bristol Zoo’s vision ‘a sustainable future for wildlife and people’, we would like to reward our guests for cycling to the Zoo.
If you are a member of the zoo, collect a cycling stamp card when you next visit and present proof of cycling (e.g. a helmet) to receive one stamp. Collect five stamps and receive a £5 discount off your next membership renewal! Members can pick up a card at the admissions desk. Good for the environment and good for you!
Cycle to the Zoo when you next visit and present proof of cycling (e.g. a helmet) to receive a 20% discount off your ticket price.
Travelling by train
You can buy a joint ticket with discounted travel and Zoo entry. This applies to adult and child tickets only. There’s a local train service to Clifton Down Station (a ten-minute walk to the Zoo). Or, from Bristol Temple Meads Station, take the 8 or 9 bus service to the Zoo’s main entrance. For more information, call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950.

Directions to Bristol Zoo
At junction 18 of the M5, exit toward A4/A403/Bristol/Avonmouth/Docks.
At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Portway/A4 heading to City Centre/Bristol/A38.
Sharp left onto Portway/A4176 (Bridge Valley Road) - Please note that Bridge Valley Road will be closed on Sunday 16 June, please use alternate directions below on this day
Continue to follow A4176.
Bristol Zoo is located on your right hand side at the top of Bridge Valley Road.
Leave the M5 at J17.
Head onto the A4018 following signs to the city centre/Westbury on Trym. (Cribbs causeway Road).
Follow this road to the next roundabout and bear left onto Wyck Beck Road.
Stay on this road until the next roundabout, head straight over onto Passage Road.
Stay on Passage Road and it merges into Falcondale Road.
Stay on Falcondale road and it merges into Westbury Road, stay on Westbury Road, stay in the right hand lane and follow the signs to the zoo, (Stoke Road temporarily) then the A4176 (Upper Belgrave Road) which merges into the Clifton Down Road. Follow this to the Zoo. If you are visiting us in mid-October/November please use the alternative directions found below whilst Upper Belgrave Road is closed.
The Zoo car parking is on the left hand side of the road.

The North car park on Clifton Down is open every day the Zoo is open. The West car park on College Road is open during peak periods and an overflow car park operates on the Downs during the high season (subject to weather and availability). Parking at the zoo is limited; we advise arriving early during peak periods to avoid disappointment.
